Most of today's American soccer fans would know Frenando Clavijo best for his head coaching stint in Major League Soccer with the Colorado Rapids between 2005-2008. During that stint Clavijo had some incredible highs, as well as some discouraging lows, at the Rapid helm. Either way, no one would consider Clavijo as a boring manager; as Frenando was a coach who played by his own rules and was a very colorful character on the sidelines.
The 54 year old Clavijo was a former USA National team defender. Clavijo was born in Uruguay and his family immigrated to America at a young age. Clavijo, interestingly enough, got all 61 of his USA caps between 1990-1994 while playing indoor soccer. Clavijo has also coached internationally as an Assistant during the 1998 World Cup for Nigeria and as Head Coach of Haiti. His last managerial job was in 2009 with Miami F.C.
